Description
Colorful and unique sandstone formations rising above the trees to overlook Scenic 7 and the Fourche Lafave River make this crag worthy of the short, steep hike even if not climbing. The valley is littered with bolders as well making for a small but well rounded climbing area standing alone in the Ouachitas.
There is very little available info on this area (outside of what I've compiled myself, there is none). The majority of the climbs are unfinished and begging for FAs. That is he big reason I've decided to post this with unfinished routes. I won't be able to spend much time here any time soon to get the FAs, so have at them! Let's see this area sent!
Aside from one warmup sport route and one boulder problem (my own), I don't know what else has been sent. In light of that, all of the names given are simply for reference. If the developer finally comes out of the woodwork to give more info, I would be thrilled. Also, any unknown FAers, please don't hesitate to claim your routes/problems.
This area has had some minor development efforts for years, and after an extensive search, I can't find out who is responsible, thus decided it was time to make this small area public.

Getting There
Coming from Hot Springs/Jessieville: Traveling north on Highway 7 through Jessieville. About 16 miles past Jessieville school, you will pass Fourche Campground, bend right, cross an old bridge on a straightaway (rare on 7) over the Fourche Lafave River. In this straight away, your car is aimed directly at Hollis Mountain and Bullet Rock can be seen above the trees. Follow the road as it bends left just in front of the mountain. Park in the small area by the gravel road across from the church. Walk from here.
Coming from Russellville/ NWA: Exit I-40 onto Highway 7 (Exit 81). The parking area is about 40 miles from here, following 7 south. About 30 miles in, you will come to a 4-way stop sign. That is how you know you are getting close. Stay on 7 and look for Magie Creek (small bridge and sign) near the Highway 314 junction in a big left curve. After the turn, you should see a wooden sign on your right that say "The Crain's Nest." Just past this, there will be a small church on the right and a gravel road across from it. This is the parking area. Park and walk from here.
From the parking area, you can either cut into the woods (eastward/right when back is to the church) and walk across the mountain, or walk along the road until it starts to curve and cut in here and go directly up. Either way, the approach is a scramble/bushwhack. Approach time is 5-10 minutes depending on which rock you're headed too.
Note: The gravel road DOES NOT take you to the crag or even any closer. It meanders up Short Mountain, the mountain behind Hollis Mountain.
