Eye on the Prize... ML on toprope on The Warden.

Three moderate traditional and mixed lines ascend a fifty foot grungy-looking face. This wall faces southeast and sees little traffic.

Warden, the sport line across the wash, is frequently climbed by parties as a warm-up or cool-down despite the odd bolting and less-than-inspiring rock.

Getting There

Follow the dry riverbed past the Dragon Tower. Continue downstream until you reach a rock island in the middle of the riverbed with a bolted line on the left. The short vertical bolted line is Warden. The Guard Tower is the grungy looking formation slightly uphill on the other side of the wash.

Warden 5.7 5a 15 V+ 13 MVS 4b Arizona : Mount Lemmon (Santa Catalin... : ... : Guard Tower
Warden climbs the steep face that rises right out of the creek-bed opposite the Guard Tower. It is presently the only climb on the wall and can easily be recognized by having two sets of chains up top. The route is very steep, even overhanging at points, but with big jugs at almost every move. Short and fun. Beware of falling early and hitting the rock ledge at the bottom of the climb. Also, some of the larger holds look like they might not last forever, so beware of those too. ...[more]   Browse More Classics in Arizona
