This is a shady area located beyond the lookout tower at Bayamon. It has a selection of 20 to 30 foot sport routes ranging from 5.9+ to 5.12a. The rock is high quality, overhanging and very featured (there's even a giant tufa on one route). There is a feeling of seclusion you get from the unique approach, which includes walking through a mini cavern. It's well shaded so it could be a good place to visit on hot days and might even be okay if it's raining.

Getting There

From the parking lot, walk up the dirt road to the observation tower. On the opposite side of the tower (downhill) from the trail that leads to the Pasillo area, there is a small grassy area (basically a short continuation of the dirt road) with an overgrown trail, marked with a carabiner sign. Follow this trail for 30 meters or so until you see a cave to your left (marked with another carabiner sign). Walk through the cave (no headlamp needed) and you're there.

It's rare to have such quality and steepness in such a setting at such a relatively easy grade. This thing just rocks. Long reaches, big jugs, a couple of hardish pulls, hidden but awesome holds and unique limestone features make this climb one of my favorite at Bayamon. The opening moves are a bit height-dependent, but my 5'2" wife was able to do the whole climb on TR no problem. Both this climb and its neighbor, "La Cuaracha De Edda" (aka "Mr. Chang") should be protected from the rain....[more]   Browse More Classics in International
