  • Description

When hiking towards this end of the wall it looks like a series of 5 towers. Tower 143 is part of these. There are a few worthy cracks out here, with Golden Child being the best. It gets early morning shade, and gets in to the sun around noon.

    Getting There

Hike 20-30 minutes down the wall to the right of the slabs. You can follow a faint 4x4 road for most of it, and eventually end up hiking on top of a cool rock bench. Hike 100' past Tower 143 and up to the wall, toward the left side of a bench that leads to the right around the corner. In the corner before the bench is the climb called Consolation Crack. Golden Child is around the corner to the right.

There is a tricky move past a drilled piton before you can get into the crack itself. The rock above and a bit to the right of the piton seems to be the best way to go. You can get a #3 Camalot in to the right above a little ledge. Once in the dihedral you can place one more #3, then it is #2's for the next 70'. about 20' from the top the crack narrow's a little to #1's, and then .75's just before the anchors. There are some features on the wall to give your feet a break....[more]   Browse More Classics in Utah
