Description Suggest change

Gentian Meadows offers a limited amount of bouldering on a number of outcrops. The altitude means that snow is often present late into May and June.

One of the best sections of rock is on the west side of the meadows. A steep wall with a small cave at the bottom provides some interesting problems.

The hike up to the meadows is worth it, even for a short bouldering session.

Getting There Suggest change

From the town of Mammoth Lakes follow Main Street, and continue straight at the traffic lights onto Lake Mary Road. Follow this until a left turn can be made towards Coldwater Campground. After 1 mile turn left into the campground and follow the campground up the hill to the Emerald Lake trailhead.

Follow the trail to Emerald Lake (1 mile). Pass the small lake on the left and then follow the sign to Gentian Meadows. Follow the trail up paralleling a stream, until you reach the meadows (1/4 mile). The bouldering surrounds the meadows.
