Very secluded area, mostly south facing cliffs, although lots of trees to keep the sun at bay. There's also an awesome waterfall and pool right at the cliff base.

Getting There

The 35ish minute approach and iffy route finding seem to keep people away. Start by the pit toilets at the far side of the camping area at the base of the dam, then hike in 5-10mins until the trail splits, go to the right (uphill) here up a trail with lots of fallen trees. Go roughly 20 minutes past two big trail side boulders, until you reach an even bigger 3rd boulder on your right that looks like it's been camped under. The turn is marked by a tree with some pink flagging, green string, and climbing tape around it (see pic). From there hike up and right (roughly WNW) a few hundred meters until you hit the cliff line. To say there's a trail is a bit of a stretch.

If you reach a stream with lots of big boulders in a clearing you've gone too far.

Clipping the first bolt without a stickclip felt impossible unless you were 6'4"+...[more]   Browse More Classics in West Virginia
