Anybody know anything about this? The climber's name was Andrew Barnes, Rest in Peace |

Says he was free soloing... |

I used to climb with Andrew back in North Carolina around 2001-2003. He was a competent, though slow, climber. Climbing was incredibly important to Andrew and always had an encouraging attituted. Years passed and we both ended up in the north east, I'd occasionally see him climbing at the Gunks, just last season as it was. I was a bit surprised when I'd see him soloing routes like frogshead or high E, dragging a rope behind for a descent. We'd always say hello and chat a bit. I'll miss that big smile and those duct taped climbing leggings he was known for. |

Always smiling. We are going to miss your infectious enthusiasm brother. |

I'd forgotten about the duct taped long underwear he used to wear as climbing pants! My lasting memory of Andrew is the climbing "race" he had with another notoriously slow climber at the T-Wall outside of Chattanooga over one the many thanksgiving break trips from North Carolina. North Carolina is a small-ish tight knit group of climber and anyone who climbed there is the early 2000s certainly knew Andrew. |
