Hi.
My friends and I are looking to visit Franklin Gorge mid August and looking for camping/cabin recommendations. Also, I believe I saw some beta that areas or lines may be chossy. Trying to understand how good the rock quality is.
Much thanks in advance.

Best place to stay is here:

pendletoncounty.net/LZpages…

You can camp out front or rent a small cabin that has a basic bathroom, kitchen and bunk beds. Have to call, no online reservations though or website. That place is like 10-15min drive to the crag.

Many folks also camp at the Seneca campgrounds when they climb at Franklin or the other area sport crags.

Yes, there is a fair bit of loose rock around Franklin, but it's pretty easily avoided. It is generally found on the more featured moderate routes, but some of the less travelled lines of all grades can have it as well. Use common sense and tread lightly - helmets aren't necessary per se, but they may very useful on crowded days.

There is a guidebook available Here

Does anyone know how accessible Franklin Gorge is in the snow and how the climbable the routes are after some snow?

Thanks for the information. Thinking of heading to Franklin for a morning before hitting the slopes at Snowshoe in February.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
