limestone bouldering on a talus beach, the rock isn't as bad as you'd think, but always check holds before committing above a bad landing in this place. Key holds break off frequently so don't expect great accuracy in the ratings around here as they will change over time. On nice days you can expect to find a couple families around while bouldering, although not as many as elm point.
the heights of climbing ranges from about 4 feet to 12 feet tall, most problems are 2 to 3 moves, finished with easy topouts.
This is a nice fall/spring/winter destination as it is very easy to chase the sun all day, but not so easy to find shade.
Bring a nylon brush with you, and please brush off any tick marks you create.
approach time from car: 2 minutes

Getting There

Once you've entered the park continue straight down main road (the one with a yellow dividing line). Continue past the yacht club until you see a sign for fossil ridge campground. Turn right onto the one way street. Continue on this loop unit you find the parking and stairs for beach access. When you make your way down the stairs you'll find a pier. Most problems will reside to the left of the pier but a couple reside on the right at CAB boulder.

Climb the tall obvious arete of CAB boulder. Decent rock quality (relative) awaits but check before committing because there is a nasty landing below. Start down and right of the arete, move left and up as you climb the arete....[more]   Browse More Classics in Texas
