RAIN AND WET ROCK The sandstone in Red Rocks is fragile and is very easily damaged when it is wet. MORE INFO >>>

Description

Lots of short routes with short approaches; mostly sport climbing.

IMPORTANT: Waste bags are provided by the Las Vegas Climbers Liaison Council in order to reduce human waste issues at the crags and boulders. Please feel free to take one, use as directed, and dispose of in any trash receptacle. Please do not leave them lying around, and do not throw them in the toilets at the parking areas. The project was funded primarily by the American Alpine Club's Cornerstone Conservation Grant, with additional funding from the Access Fund and Mountain Gear. Please do your part to be a good steward of this amazing climbing area.

Getting There

Drive a little more than a mile up the scenic loop road and park at the (you guessed it) first pullout. A trail leads down and across the small canyon.

From the Grand Circle Trail on our way to the Panty Wall, we saw climbers on a wall between the Ultraman Wall and the Panty Wall. Looks like they set up a toprope on fixed anchor. Anyone has any info on this wall?

We spent a full day at the First Pullout. The Rock is amazing, and coming here for the first time, it was a great experience. Having climbed only a little over a year, this was a perfect destination. There are toprope options, nicely bolted sport routes that are easy and tough. We had an experience lead climber with us so that helped us set up some more exciting routes.

Any new updates on the above photo? Does that area have a name? I climbed the sport route that is immediately to the right of the blind arch, 7 - 8 bolts to a nice chained anchor - somewhere in the 5.6 range

After running into a few different groups this weekend who had their day planned in such a way that they were passing crags they wanted to hit on the way to other ones on their list , I snapped a photo on the way out and translated it into a topo. Might have missed one or two of the smaller/ more obscure crags but the majority of the first pullout is represented. Hope it helps someone out in the future , cheers.

My buddy and I stumbled upon this great little wall above and to the right of the Hamlet, but it doesn't appear to be listed here or in our guide book. Anyone know what this is?

Mystery Wall

It had 5 short routes (15-20m), 4 sport and one mixed sport/trad finger crack. Our best guess on the ratings, from L->R, were 5.9, 11a, 11a, 10b, and ? (didn't climb the rightmost one). There were also chains at the top of the rock which made it possible to rap down and set up a TR. The belay area was completely shaded, which was very much welcome.
