BETA PHOTO: Climbers on the Family Wall at Rumbling Bald

Description

This is a slabby area between Test Pilots and Comatose areas. It is just up the hill from the main (east side) trail, on the trail to Test Pilots.

It can get crowded.

Getting There

Take the main trail to the boulders below the Jack London Amphitheater. Follow the trail left and up. When it Ts into the main cliffside trail, turn left. The first obvious trail on the right leads up to the base of the Family Wall, at the bottom of Family Feud.

Climbing Season

For the Rumbling Bald area.

Weather station 2.5 miles from here

A fun corner with a wide crack. The crux is moving out of the crack under the roof at the top. From there it is a fairly easy run to the bolts below pitch 2 of Dirty Jugs....[more]   Browse More Classics in North Carolina
