A pleasant, shady summer crag. Come here on hot summer days for some cool climbing, and if you're lucky you'll get to also enjoy a nice cool breeze. The crag faces northeast and is in the forest, so there are few crags which are cooler in the summer. If you climb in the 5.11 range you'll be able to spend all day here. If you climb in the 5.10 range, you've still got half the routes which are accessible to you. I wouldn't recommend a visit by anyone less competent than that as the routes may be a little too heady/dangerous.

Getting There

As the directions to Hundshaupten say, from the parking lot walk 500m along the dirt road until you reach the 2nd road branching off to the left. Follow this uphill to reach the upper path, which you follow to the left for 150m to reach this wall.

Climbing Season

For the Frankenjura area.

Really fun climbing. Starts in the middle of the crag and goes up to a skinny bolt, then traverses left past one bolt to the 3rd bolt. Some complain that this runout from 2nd to 3rd is dangerous, or that a sling could be placed on a horn on the ramp. I don't agree with either, and placed a sling on the 3rd bolt to reduce drag. From here, continue more or less straight up to a pig-tail anchor....[more]   Browse More Classics in International
