Great during the fall and spring because of it's delicious little waterfall, this scenic canyon comes after the upper drainage section. As mentioned, many climbs have already gone here, and there are many more waiting to be sent. In this canyon there are some traditional routes as well as traverse and boulder problems.

Getting There

Go down the trail from the parking lot, past the water tower and all the way to the Cibola National Forest fencing, cross it and hang a left with the small ditch, the canyon is green and lush, a stark contrast, can't miss it.

This area is the same as what is being called "Upper Fat City Drainage." The two should be merged and renamed "Embudo Canyon" as the original name of the once very popular bouldering area. The rock is (typically) not nearly as sharp as most Sandias areas.
