Eclipse in the Tetons

I can't be the only one planning on running up the OS to catch the total solar eclipse from the summit of the Grand Teton. Anyone know if the park is planning any restrictions or permit requirements for that day? I know day permits aren't usually required, but I imagine it's going to be a massive shitshow that day everywhere near the park.

I have eyes on a particular summit in the Sawtooths. Imagine that? I can't think of anything cooler than being on a magnificent peak during totality. I suspect a lot of us are thinking the same thing. It's going to be busy. Chose your summit wisely.

Nevermind. I'm just going to go with this Backpackers Anonymous meetup group instead! 264 people going up the Grand! Sounds like a party!

Party?!! 30 would seem crowded to me, but then I prefer a little more solitude. I can't imagine 250+ up there at once.

250 strangers from the internet who seem to know very little about climbing? What could go wrong??

Lol. I can see the pile of bodies below the second rappel, just in time for the afternoon thunderstorms.

Looks like an opportunity for a new Guinness record!
Last fall, I was on top of the 3rd Flatiron with 12 people. That was a whole bunch of nope. Maybe it's time to reformulate my eclipse plans...

Better off picking any one of the hundreds of high peaks her in CO. Rather sit at loveland pass than wait on 12 people to rap.

From the description: "we still have six years"

264 "going" when I looked, and, the description also says there is "limited" number of permits from NPS.

Scalpers who planned ahead will make a killing!

I'm planning a trip to the Tetons this summer, but I sure as hell don't want to be on the Grand with 300+ people on August 21st. I plan to be outta there a good week before...

I'll be on top of Mt. Owen, but don't tell anyone!

Haha, no worries, no one else would possibly think to go there.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
