BETA PHOTO: Eastern Bulge Boulder. Only 2 obvious way up. Left...

A new boulder (to the party who cleaned it, at least) that's pretty well hidden, but easy to get to.
It features two obvious sloping arete lines; the left line is quite a bit tougher than the right.

And something that's definitely worth noting: this is a great place to finish off your session, once your skin can't take anymore sharp holds. The rock is really smooth by Rumney standards.

Getting There

We lumped this new bloc we found in with the Black Jack Boulders because it's so close, although, it technically feels somewhat like a separate area?
Basically, if you're walking west on Buffalo Road head up into the woods about 15 yards before the wood stairs at pole 37. Follow the obvious drainage uphill for about 200 yards and you'll hit this cool, Font-esque boulder.

The Rightist V3 6A  New Hampshire : *Rumney : ... : Eastern Bulge Boulder
The other obvious climb on the boulder, The Rightest starts with both hands matched on the sloper ledge that's low and around the corner from the right arete. Bury a good heal hook and work your way up the right arete. There's an awesome little crimp about 2/3rds of the way up the right arete that is essential in finishing the climb....[more]   Browse More Classics in New Hampshire

Nice find. You should try to figure out an approach from above, off the blue flagged trail, rather than making a new path off the road, especially one up a drainage. Do you think this is close enough to maybe be listed in the Monster Boulders? It sounds like you are getting pretty close to them.

Very good point about the path, or encouraging a new path, rather.

To be honest, we got spun around the other day and wound up off the blue trail, but I can't really say where, for sure. It was only my sec on time at Rumney, so if you've got a better way of describing its location or relation to the Monster boulders (I've never been to that area) please do not hesitate to edit away. As far as Rumney goes, we were total neophytes and found this by complete accident.
