BETA PHOTO: The east face of Lost Universe

Description

This is the wall that one first comes to when completing the hike/bushwhacking to Lost Universe. The granite here is of great quality and there are two known routes, one climbing the arete on the left end and another climbing the center of the face. There is potential for more routes but apparently this crag was all but forgotten after the initial development. There are some cracks that warrant further investigation but most of the climbing involves nice edging and smearing.

Getting There

This is the east face, the first wall encountered when you reach the Lost Universe.

This is the bolted line on the far left side of the East Face, just right of the southeast arete. Climb the large block and clip the first bolt. Thin moves and some smearing get you past the second bolt (the crux), to the start of a hand crack. Using the arete and the crack, move past four more bolts to the top of the pinnacle. Perhaps much harder if you try to stay on the arete proper, but the holds tend to lead one to the crack, actually the finish of Lost in Space which originates on the ...[more]   Browse More Classics in California
