Description

The East End of Rundle (EEOR), commonly referred to as the lackadaisical Winnie the Poor character by locals, hosts a plethora of stellar trad and sport lines on generally excellent grey rock. From single pitch, to huge multi-pitch endeavors, this section of rock boasts a short approach (30-60 minutes) and something for everyone.

Classics Include:
Eeyore's Tail (5.8, 10 pitches)
True Grit (5.10a, 6 Pitches)
Reprobate (5.7, 11 Pitches)
Raptor (5.10b, 9 Pitches)
Parallel Dreams (5.11a, 5 Pitches)
Geriatric (5.8, 7 Pitches)
Generosity (5.9, 13 Pitches)

Getting There

From Canmore:
Drive up the Spray Lakes Road that cuts the valley between Ha Ling and Mt. Rundle. There are lots of signs in Canmore and you'll pass the Nordic Center as you gain elevation. Park at the Grassi Lakes pullout right at the waters edge where the dam is located. The EEOR climbers trail should be well worn and obvious from the road.

The Grassi Lakes sport climbs are just below the dam (5 minutes) and worth a stop.

Since this was in the old guidebook and Chris Perry has graciously accepted to share the beta (BUY HIS NEW BOOK, it's excellent! Beautifully made!). Here it is.From the old "Banff Rock" Book, (c) Chris Perry:This popular, multi-pitch sport route has some excellent climbing although the middle section is relatively easy and lacks interest. The climb is entirely protected by bolts and it makes a good introduction to the longer climbs. It begins up a small rib immediately left of the Fumbles gully ...[more]   Browse More Classics in International
