Away from the better known walls and crags within walking distance of Rum village, Disi is also a great place to base your climbing trip. You can hang at Obeid's camp tucked into the rocks for example and sleep under a real Bedouin Tent or set up your own. He even has showers, food, and beer available there. The approaches are generally shorter to the base of the climbs than those near Rum village.

Great quality featured sandstone. No granite like near Rum village.

Getting There

For all intents and purposes, this is closer to Rum village than many other walls considered part of "Wadi Rum". From Rum, drive less than 10km to the little Bedouin village of Disi. The very accessible wall between Obeid's Bedouin Camp and The Camp of Lawrence in Sig Um Tawagi has many great lines. It is incredible to think that the impressive and very visible wall of Al Hasani (Bedouin Camel Boys) was never climbed until late 2006!

The rock is stellar. On the FA, very few bolts were placed, but returning the next year, we had both marveled at the sustained quality and knew it deserved better fixed protection. In 2007 we climbed it again and equipped it. The first round it was 5.10 R/X. Though still not a sport climb, protection now feels ad...[more]   Browse More Classics in International
