Hello world!! I am heading up to Manitow-Wish Waters to get my WFR from 5\9-5\13 and I am stopping off at Devils Lake on my way back south toward Chicago to try and get some routes in. Unfortunately, I am alone and will be winging it looking for some individuals interested in letting me climb with them (obviously after watching their attentiveness and ability to keep their partners safe), so, I would like to put a notice out there and see if I could maybe find someone willing to let me join their party for the evening. I am not someone to worry about; I am attentive and very aware of the risks associated with this activity and take it serious. Pretty new to it all about 3 months old with all but 3 weekends being climbing trips (just so you know I am not a super experienced climber as far as ratings ability goes). Typically climb 5.8 5.9, comfortable leading 5.8 comfortable TR on 5.10a and wanting to take a crack at a 5.10b. Thank you!

I'll be there that weekend probably Saturday all day and Sunday morning-early afternoon. I have a single rack and rope and will be there with my regular partner and two friends who haven't been outside too much, so you could definitely join our group. I can PM you as it gets closer. Do you have any gear you'll be bringing?

Not sure if you are too familiar with DL, but there is no sport climbing - it's all trad and TR and the grades are very stiff compared to elsewhere. If you have only been climbing 3 months, I wouldn't feel comfortable letting you lead, but you can certainly TR.

Edit: Even if you don't go with anyone - you can walk up to almost any group TRing and going slow, chat them up a bit, and ask for a ride up. Every climber I've met at DL is incredibly friendly. Just be sure to check their TR setup before you go, you don't want to be climbing on something from the clusterfuck thread.

Nice! I would definitely meet up with you guys. I haven't Trad climbed so I wouldn't be too comfortable leading that and I haven't been there yet just heard some wonderful things. Since you trad I could learn a few things so that'd be cool too! If you could PM me as it gets closer that would be awesome. Do you have a specific area your planning to bee at so I can check out the climbs? I just looked I won't be there Sunday my bus leaves that day so I'll just head out Saturday night. I have my harness and shoes and slings and a few biners but I don't have any draws yet and haven't started a rack yet. I have a rope just didn't bring it with me to Wisconsin.
Yeah that was my plan if no one messaged me I haven't had a hard time talking to people and then letting me get down on there rope but I wanna be smart about it like you said haha

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
