Descents?

Is this site ascent specific? What if someone was to pioneer an incredible descent, would the MP league be interested?

Just curious?

Yes, Sharma's planning on down climbing Jumbo Love.

I've posted a few couloirs that make really good ski descents. I'd like to see more of that.

I think it'd be great to have an online BC ski database similar to MoutainProject too! I've withheld adding any descents on here, but I guess mp.com could be a good forum for that as well. Anyone know of any online ski database out there?

Thanks Andrew for knowing what I meant. The other Andrew seems to reinforce the hand and foot climbing (up or down) that is regularly discussed and reported.

My question had more to do with the name "Mountain Project" having a greater scope than just climbing. I would also like to see more descents (ski/snowboard or toboggan).

+1 for listing descents that involve sliding over snow.

don't ask me how we got off the devil's tower; there was more technical crap involved than going up,

if that's even possible

There's a "Discuss Mtn Project" forum that's more likely catch the attention of the admins.

I honestly don't use the route database that much, but I think your idea is great and would see a good amount of use.

I've contributed a couple (goldfinger and badfinger couloir on mt evans). I've also posted comments and pictures under ice routes that can be skied like the north couloir on pacific peak.

I've tried to pass that idea along, the multi faceted mountain project idea...

Mostly to no avail unfortunately, I'm pretty sure I've passed the idea along for ski mountaineering and slot canyons. Caves would be a good shoe in too as alot of our caves are alpine and in the mountains.

BTW I think someone is finally starting a BC ski database for colorado, I forget the site though... Bummer!

How about some canyoneering shots? (Photos kinda suck, but you get the idea....)

Yeah! That's cool too, but what I would really like to see is some beta on backcountry ski/snowboard descents, complete with:

Location
~skin/tour distance
~Elevation gain/drop
Snow conditions
Pictures of course
Ratings (two thumbs up, one thumb up, mas o menos, mal, muy mal)

But then again, backcountry riders are notoriously secretive. I don't know if "I" would post my stash... probably wouldn't.

That idea had crossed my mind too. I think it would be really cool if there were a mountainproject type site that listed ski descents (and ascents, since you usually need to go up before going down). It would be nice both as far as getting beta on routes/conditions, and in having a place where you could easily keep track of everything you've skied.
