This is a fun warm-up boulder in a small open area, aka clear of trees (unlike most boulders around this area). It doesn't see much traffic and is therefore a little chossy. The rock is sharp-ish granite that is typical of most boulders in the Valley.

Getting There

Park at the Treatment Building and find the trail to the left of the building (if you're facing the front). Hike up the trail for around 10 minutes, and you'll see a dark brown house with a greenish roof on your left. Hike up the trail for another minute or two, and you'll see this boulder maybe a hundred feet or so off the trail to your right.

Climbing Season

For the Prospect Mountain area.

PPs For Life V1+ 5  Colorado : Estes Park Valley : ... : Da Big Cheese
This is a fun traverse-ish climb that takes you from the bottom of the south face to the top corner of the west face of Da Big Cheese. The crux is probably a big left hand reach to a nice crack. Most of this climb is reachy, especially the sit-down-start on the south face.Sit-down-start on the south face, move up a little, traverse left, cross the arete to some crimps and a big left reach, and follow it with a fun throw to a nice jug to finish up. ...[more]   Browse More Classics in Colorado
