Overview of road to Crestview Rock

A featured dome set against the southwest end of the Glass Mountains, south of the Looking Wall. The rock is solid with potential for a bunch of sport routes and a few two pitch routes. I bolted a line in the steepest part of the wall. I saw no evidence anyone else had ever climbed here. The upper wall -- gained from the ledge cutting in from the west side, looks like it will hold a few sport routes as well. North facing with afternoon sun. Beautiful setting in a high desert locale.

Getting There

From 395 take the Benton Crossing (Green Church) road toward Benton. After you cross the Owens River, you head south. After about a mile, go left on forest road 3S148 towards Wilfred Canyon. When you reach a "T", head right/south for a short ways, then look for a sheep watering area (near some powerline poles). At this sheep watering area take a faint road up and over brush up toward the dome until you run out of road. Hike about 20 minutes to the rock. Suggestion -- use GPS to get you there the first time. Also, check out the overview photo I included.
