The mountains around Crested Butte have the occasional ice route that can be found early season while access is still easy and before they become covered by snow.

Getting There 

Most routes can be found north of town in the Paradise Divide area or in Taylor Canyon.

Subalpinism M4-5  Colorado : CO Ice & Mixed : Crested Butte
This is one single 60-70m pitch, start from a sloping, snowy ledge at the base of the main crack. It has a little bit of everything, mixed climbing, a small smear of ice, hand-jams, and jugs. There is no obvious crux, it is fairly sustained climbing. You will top out onto a sharp tower where the funkiness begins.
