Creekside Wall Rock Climbing
|Please respect this beautiful area. Stay on established trails and do not trample any vegetation|
Fun, overly bolted area below Cecret Lake. I have found that most of these climbs are a little easier than their ratings, so it can be a bit of an ego boost.
Rock is similar to the quartzite found in BCC with some areas of non or semi-metamorphosed sandstone. The short approach and cool temps make it super nice. I've never met a crowd, though 2-3 parties would be more than enough to crowd the area.
Hike the Cecret Lake Trail from the very top of Little Cottonwood Canyon. It's the obvious wall to the east of the lake. See GPS coordinates if you're lost, or put them into Google Earth

Good little route with the same kind of cool quartzite features found on the rest of the wall. Very mossy at the top makes the top hardly worth doing. As of 7/24/07, the anchors have only hangers and a couple old carabiners. bring a sling to use at the top until that problem is fixed. The anchors are set behind a lip that causes an incredible amount of drag....[more] Browse More Classics in UT

Every year WASPS build nests on this wall near "Junkhead" and they are aggressive!

Probably my favorite collection of sport routes in the Cottonwood Canyons. I highly recommend it, take at least a light jacket though, even in the dead heat of August. I think this is the only place around Salt Lake where I have worn a fleece while climbing at 2 pm in the middle of August. The wall is in the shade almost all day (at least I've never seen it in the sun), it's right next to a cold creek, and it's fairly high. All of these factors contribute to the lower temps.
