Crack In The Woods Roadcut Rock Climbing
Crack In The Woods Road-cut is as the name implies a crag located just north of the Crack in the woods parking area that is made up of blasted rock along the highway. This is a low quality wall that catches good sun and wind. There is a very short approach and high amount of traffic noise but climbing is climbing :)
Crack In The Woods Roadcut is located two mile past the weight station at mile marker 112.5. Park north of Crack In The Woods at the cliff pulling as far off the raod as possible or at the Crack In The Woods trail head and walk north to the cliffs. If coming form Anchorage use the McHugh Creek pullout to turn around. The crag is located right off the road.

This is the last climb on the road cut located north of the Crack In The Woods trail head and also the only climb that may be worth doing at the road crag. Climb up on small slopping ledges to reach the first bolt is 15 feet off the ground. Climb over a small bulge and straight up the face on fun moves. Be careful passing a rotten ban of rock near the top just below the anchor. Just left of the anchor there is a cool blast hole that cuts straight through the summit block.LOCATIONThis climb is ...[more] Browse More Classics in Alaska
