Description

This rock will get sun most of the day and you are unlikely to see many other climbers here as there are few routes and they are all harder. The rock is overhung and fairly featureless aside from the "confortized/ man made" holds on two of the climbs.

Getting There

Just around the corner from the Goosehead there is a pullout on the right, roughly mile marker 15.4. Park here and hike back along the road dropping down the slope to reach the base or dropping down a little further to reach the top of the cliff and the anchors to two of the climbs that are accessible from the top.

Climbing Season

Cowpunks 5.12b/c 7b+ 27 IX- 27 E6 6b  AZ : Mount Lemmon (Santa Catalin... : ... : Cowpunks Wall
This route follows bolts on the left face/ arete of the wall. The climbing is fairly straight forward until a crux about 2/3 of the way up where you are forced directly onto the arete. After deciphering the tricky sequence many sharp holds await you as the climb turns to vertical/ slabby. This climb has very enjoyable movement up to the point where things get sharp and slightly awkward following the crux. ...[more]   Browse More Classics in AZ
