Description

This large boulder has a couple of fine sport routes; In Contempt and Unforgiven. It gets a lot of sun and can be quite warm, in contrast to it's neighbor, the White Cliffs.

Getting There

Park at Trashcan Rock and approach as for The White Cliffs of Dover. Continue past where you'd start the uphill approach for about 150 yards until the hillside hooks to the right. The Courthouse is high on the hillside and can be recognized by the overhanging cleft corner of In Contempt. Approach via an easy scramble from the left hand side of the crag.

Climbing Season

For the Quail Springs Area area.

This short and powerful route is another that would have a conga line if it were in Real Hidden Valley. Technical, powerful, and truly sport bolted at the difficult sections, In Contempt would be a great project for those tackling the hard 11's at Josh. That is, if you had ever heard of it. The documented grade(s) of 11b and 11b/c in some guides shows that even in the late 90's, Josh could continue to demand respect....[more]   Browse More Classics in California
