Also known as Owassee Slide Run, this area is one of many good Pine Creek ice climbing areas. Three or four routes of varying difficulty are present. Good ice can be found here when areas further South have melted, thanks to its location in a shaded hollow.

Getting There

Pull off of Owassee Rd. at the bridge where Owassee Slide Run meets with Pine Creek. Hike upstream for ~10 minutes and you'll find yourself at the base of the falls. There is a short WI2 ice step ~8 feet tall just before the main falls, which can easily be walked around.

Climbing Season

For the North Central area.

Climb easy ice directly toward a bare rock patch between two hemlocks at the top of the route. From here, either lower off, or if your anchor is set further back, pull the fun vertical/slightly overhanging mixed step, and top out with great swings into turf....[more]   Browse More Classics in Pennsylvania
