Description

A precarious set of crags of incredibly varying quality and angle set high above the high-rises of Central. The grueling approach will turn many away, and for good reason, but the masochistic will find something more than just incredible views to reward their struggle.

What is described as Soho Crag in the Climb China book holds the best views and likely best climbing at moderate grades. Forgotten Buttress a little higher up has some harder stuff. Austin Powers is forgettable at best. Unsure about anything else...

Getting There

Oh gawd...

Out of Central station, walk up the "longest escalators in the world" which will likely be running the opposite direction until you get to a road on which you turn right then cut left up a switchback road until you get to a construction site and then go through an unlocked door and crawl over and around and through the various "slope retention" wires and fences and drainage ditches until you get to a trail that goes east and then follow this up a washout with super-gnarly ropes until you get to...

Yeah, just get someone to show you the way.

From the dirt ledge above the first fixed line, follow bolts up the left side of the knife-edge arete. Alternatively, scramble up another fixed line to a narrower ledge and begin the climbing three bolts higher, 25 feet below the first anchor. Either way, the climbing is easy and unremarkable. From this anchor, make some face moves (crux) before committing to the edge and riding this to the top. Savor the exposure! Near the top, make one last face move onto the ledge above, and belay in luxury.I...[more]   Browse More Classics in International
