Description

The Cecilia Wall has many lines, most of them on the obscure side, but the most popular has to be the namesake mixed classic, Cecilia (22). The far left side of the wall has been recently cleaned up and seems to be the spot for school top roping trips.

Due to the Mount's geological origins, the rock here is far more textured and free from the sea-polished baby butts more commonly found below. The holds tend to be blockier and generally more featured.

The lines here tend to be of the long single pitch variety, often with a bit of fixed gear.

Getting There

This is the highest wall in the Central Gully area. Uphill of Reaper Buttress, uphill and behind Mari Buttress.

Follow Central Gully Right trails all the way to the top (almost to the road). This takes about 15 minutes from the Pines. Alternatively, drive up the Mount, and park at one of the many pulloffs at the top of the gully. Only a few minutes from the road.

Climbing Season

The right side of the Cecilia wall is an inauspicious, black shield of sandstone, overhung for most of its 100-foot height. This area, like the rest of the Cecilia Wall, is devoid of the voluptuous orange features more commonly found lower on the Mount. Instead, sharp, blocky holds and thin seams are the predominating features. Intransience goes straight up the middle of this wall and is entirely gear-protected. The safety rating is well-deserved, especially since the hardest sections also felt ...[more]   Browse More Classics in International
