Description

Despite being right off the trail, this overlooked boulder didn't make it into the new Obed guidebook. The rock is great, the landing is perfect, and the caliber of problems is as good or better than what you find elsewhere at the Lilly Boulders.

Getting There

This boulder fell off the roof of The Cave Area in the new Obed guidebook. This is area #21 in the bouldering section.

Walk less than 10 minutes into the Forest. When you reach the third major cliff-line cave, you will see the boulder. The problems are on the downhill side.

Climbing Season

For the Lilly Boulders area.

Adverse Conditions V9 7C  TN : Obed & Clear Creek : ... : Cave Area Boulder
This roof problem is unique for the Lilly Boulders. Instead of the usual down-pulling holds, this problem is all about underclings. Start with your left hand in a good, waist-high slot. Move right to steep, blocky underclings in a roof. Use kneebar technology to reach the next set of underclings and a tight crimp slot, then fire for a huge flat finishing hold. Top out.Would probably be V10 without kneepads. Hard to find dry- hence the name....[more]   Browse More Classics in TN
