BETA PHOTO: Cat's Meow

Description

The tallest and most challenging of the routes at the crag. I'm not sure how reliable the column is; despite several trips up there over the past few years, it's pretty easy to miss this line as you walk past. On this day, the ice was just too thawed and shrunken to consider leading. Plus, it's a really strenuous little problem.

Location

The ground at the base of the Cat Scratch Fever ice columns is pretty flat. As you move right, the ground drops off sharply for 30 ft or so. Cat's Meow starts halfway down this slope. Easily reached from below. The crux is where the ice spills over an alcove just off the ground. If the column ever got fat enough to reach the ground, this section could be quite a bit easier.

Protection

Solid trees about 40 ft above the route for TR anchoring; bring a static rope to set up. A bit of rock pro, pitons probably, or possibly a tips-size cam if the crack is dry (it wasn't this time) would be welcome for the exit move.
