Description

A stunningly beautiful group of mountains in the Dolomites to the East of Bolzano, quite near the Sella Pass routes and the town of Canazei. It contains many short, moderate classic lines as well as long routes. Access is easy. There are numerous huts to stay in right next to the climbs. There is also camping within a few miles (requiring a bus in the morning up to the access area due to no cars being allowed up the road).

IN mid summer it can be quite crowded with tourists as well as with climbers so you may be sharing your route with others. The rock is standard Dolomite limestone running the gammut from quite solide to quite loose.

Getting There

Unless you stay in a hut up in the Rosengarten area, you will need to take a bus up in the morning (no driving allowed on the bus access road). Park in the car park on the main road between in the town of Pera and Pozza di Fassa, catch the 07:30 bus to the Gardeccia hut. From there you can hike to the base of the climbs.

South-west Arete (Delagokante) 5.7 5a 15 V+ 13 MVS 4b PG13  Europe : Italy : ... : Torre Delago
The crux is probably the first pitch as you climb up to gain the arete. Once on the arete follow it for three amazing pitches to the summit. For the descent rappel down the east side of the tower from fixed anchors. Six 20m rappels or three 40m rappels hit the ground. If you are planning on continuing up the Tower Stabeler, forego the last 20m rappel. The more popular routes on Torre Stabeler begin here....[more]   Browse More Classics in International
