Completely agree with the Fox news, right wing SOP comments.

But I would have to say that I think the middle class is hanging on by a thread of their own making.

How many people jumped on the buy big and flip band wagon signing on to interest only loans on McMansions they knew they couldn't afford. It is sad that they are struggling now but they made their beds and now they get to lie in them.

We are likely due for some changes in the high finance industry but camping out in a city park for months how is that going to help.

As lame as the Tea Party is at least they put together a way to get their people elected. If the OM puts up a candidate in the next election I'll take them seriously and consider voting for them.

If greed is the problem in this country then we are in bad shape because it runs deep here.

The mortgage crisis is only one part of the current dilemma we find ourselves in.
The average income of the top 5% as gone up 245% in the last 20 years. The other 95% of us have had out paychecks remain virtually the same. With inflation, health care etc. we're losing ground.

Remember the top 5% don't buy enough stuff to keep the economy rolling along. It's the middle class that fuels that. When the middle class again has the disposable income it did in the 50's and 60's the economy will improve for all of us including the super wealthy.

The wealthy have seen their tax burden decline over the last 10 years. With the current figures on unemployment the GOPs assertion that you can't tax the wealthy or the corporations or they won't create jobs is completely incorrect. Ask 14 million Americans what the truth really is.

I agree that hanging out in parks will accomplish very little unless it results in votes for progressive candidates. It has however changed the national debate from deficit reduction to helping middle America and that's a good thing.

Absolutely, this goes way beyond the middle-class buying into an over-heated housing market. The gini coefficient is an economic measure of inequality in income distribution. American wealth is distributed less evenly than 100 of 140 countries measured. Not saying it should be equal, but you have to wonder when we are nowhere near as equal as other mature democracies but rather hanging out near the bottom of the table with Cameroon, Iran, Cambodia, Uganda, Macedonia...

The Occupy movement may not be terribly organized and articulate, but there is no question that their intent is right on.

Really find it humorous how this thread has gone into racism, politics, ethics and pooping in living rooms. Mark Mueller
