Description
Burst Rock is one of the very best climbing areas on the Sonora Pass Highway. It is well documented in the 2013 guidebook, but this "area" entry is made to allow posting about new climbs (established since 2013).
Here are some of the introductory paragraphs from the 2013 book (as the author and publisher of that book, putting my own words here in this entry seems like "fair use" to me):
"Burst Rock is a high county climbing gem. At 8,500 feet, it is very alpine in character. It has excellent granite, wonderful views and cool temperatures. Also, with over 250 different routes, it provides many climbing options.
Because it is accessed by a high elevation dirt road, Burst Rock is usually the last high county crag to open for the season. Depending on snowfall levels in a given year, the road opens as early as late May and as late as the end of June.
Each climbing sub-area here is accessed from the Burst Rock Trail. This trail starts at the Gianelli Cabin parking area near a kiosk which includes a large sign with the words 'Gianelli Cabin.' (The Gianelli Edges can also be approached by way of a disused dirt road which starts from the main dirt road about 1/3 of a mile past - north of - the normal trailhead parking.) The sub areas are listed in the order they are approached when hiking outbound."

Getting There
Here are driving directions from the 2013 book (written for driving eastbound/up the hill):
"The turnoff to Burst Rock is Crabtree Road. This paved road is on the right side of the highway, 1.2 miles east of the Cold Springs Market and gas station (the Pinecrest Lake turnoff is about two miles too far). Crabtree Road is paved for 6.5 miles to the turnoff to Bell Meadows. Continue past this turnoff, and quickly come to the Aspen Meadows Pack Station where the road is dirt for a short distance. After the pavement resumes, continue upward, passing a sharp right turn, an uphill grade and then a left curve to a point where the road again becomes dirt. Continue on the dirt road. Pass the turnoff to the Crabtree Meadows Trailhead, continuing gradually uphill to the Stanislaus National Forest Gianelli Cabin Trailhead. Park here for all Burst Rock climbing areas. This trailhead is four miles past the Crabtree Meadows turnoff, 6.6 miles past the Aspen Meadows pack station, and 13.3 miles from Highway 108."
