A friend and I are looking to go the Bugs in late July/ early Aug, I did some searching on which airport to fly into but I couldn't find anything. Spokane looks like the most logical but if anyone has any info it would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Chris

From Boulder I would drive. Then you don't have the hassle of worrying about the rental getting eaten up by critters.

We flew into Calgary although its a toss up time wise. On the plus side, airport customs seems more hassle free than the border customs if youre driving.

driving's cheaper, and you can hit up other areas on your way then too.

How long is the drive? I was thinking about driving but time may not be on my side.

I flew into Calgary. Customs for two bearded and shaggy haired dudes was a non-issue. No sir, we don't have any explosives. On your way!

However, renting a car is a huge expense. It ended up being about $50-60/day! Considering that the car stays in the parking lot for the majority of the trip, it's a killer. If you can drive there yourself, I bet you would save a bit of money on that end.

Cool place. It is a LONG drive. I think 22 hours from Boulder. Next time - tough decision!??

We did this trip last June... Made it one long road-trip rock and ice climbing in all sorts of places. It was amazing. They are some of the craziest rock spires I have ever seen. The road sucks-its pretty rough (possibly because we were so early in the season) and there are cows everywhere. At one point the cows were all laying down on the road and would not move. It was definately an experience just getting there. The border wasn't bad since we explained what we were doing and why we had a months worth of supplies in my small SUV.

Stop in Squamish, Banff, Canmore, There are so many opportunities for great climbing if you drive... If you have the time, Drive!

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
