Working up the crack

Another Palisades sandbag (rated 5.7 in the guide), Box Lunch is a fun challenge on lead.

Easy climbing on horizontals leads to a thin face about two-thirds of the way up. A jagged vertical crack in the face is the crux; look for a great captured nut placement here. A generous horizontal crack provides a good rest stop after the strenuous crux move, as well as a vital placement to protect the finish. Move up on slopers to the top.

Located in the Pillar Wall section, just right of the leaning pillar.

Gear up to #2 Camalot; good nut placements at the crux. Anchor to trees at the top.

Rope Soloed this one last November. Good gear before the vertical crack is key to protect a potentially unpleasant fall.

This is a solid 5.6....maybe easier.

Get good placement before the crack runs out at the top. Kinda slopey after that.

This route is definitely tougher for someone shorter than 6'

good small/med nut placements before the crack. Seemed like #1BD was the biggest cam I could use (iffy placement in the crack itself).
