Description

You've gotta like wide stuff to enjoy this one. The wide section up top is crux of route. It makes a difference if you choose right-side or left-side in.

Location

Far right side of the formation just as the gully starts (descent). This route is actually the line drawn for Idiot Wind in Vogel's Joshua Tree West guidebook.

Protection

standard to 4" Try not to over-rack, as one of your hips will be in the crack!

Hey Tricamus,
I used the name Idiot Wind for a route about 45 feet right of Don't Think Twice. It's listed in the Joshua Tree West guidebook, published in 2006. In the West guidebook the description is correct, but the route location is mis-drawn.

Were you referring to the West guidebook when you climbed the route you posted here? Or were you going for your own FA and just happened to pick the same name?

Hey Bob, thanks for the clarification. I was refering to the West guidebook and thought I climbed your route Idiot Wind, but indeed I went up the route pictured in the J-tree West guide. Any idea what name that one goes by?

I think you may have done a first ascent! So you get to name it.

Well, if nobody chimes in with a name, I'll pop in some Dylan CDs and see what reminds me of that squeeze.
