BETA PHOTO: Blue Heron with bolts from a ways back on the rock...

Blue Heron is definately the best bolted route on the rock. It's also the only quality bolted route with quality rock in the Twin Coves.

Climb up the gently overhung face using large (sometimes) hidden pockets with excellent feet and excellent clipping spots. There's nothing real suttle about the route, but the rest and holds are excellent.

To reach this route walk around the rock to the right around the corner from Seagull Arete.

5 bolts to a 2 bolt top anchor. To set up a rope rope, either climb the route or rappell off the North side of the rock from the higher set of anchors after climbing Seagull Arete.

Mark Howe did first top rope ascent of the crack/face to the right and i did first lead ascent of Blue Heron in the late 90's. it has 3-16 grade stainless steel bolts and it is really good! bring an ocean fishing pole for some rock fish right off the flat topped belay rock! sweet view too!!

Stunning approach, killer views, great route...what more could you want? Bring a snack and enjoy the view from the belay rock before you head back.

The rather key crimp was broken off on what I consider the crux about halfway up. Makes the sequence reachy unless you have small fingers to squeeze into a thin crack. Probably bumps the grade up to 10d or 11a for most people.
