It's sad that this is not getting the attention it deserves. MP.com has sticky threads up for other climbing closures, why not this one? A meager 20+ responses to this thread, and who knows if anyone is actually sending in letters to keep the place open. Go viral, people. Get this shit on your facebook pages. Brian is pretty much the only one acting like this is a big deal. If you haven't already - accessfund.org/c.tmL5KhNWLrH/b... Go to that link and send a message. Personalize it. If you don't live in Idaho, tell them that you know a lot of people who do, and you're extremely persuasive when election season rolls around.

No doubt! I've worked to rally my climbing friends to submit their comments via the Access Fund page. Even for those climbers that haven't ever visited Castle Rocks, this incident should be something they care about. The precedence this sets for climbing anywhere in the U.S. is extremely disturbing. Please voice your opposition to this action.

Good point. I haven't been yet, but I've seen some videos of the climbing up there and the area is definitely on my bucket list. I'd hate to see BLM blanket closures like this one pick up momentum elsewhere.

The BLM shut down an awesome trail system in Fruita, CO to mountain bikers several years back while still allowing horseback riding, which is much more destructive to trails than biking. In any case, the GJ mountain biking community has struggled with BLM threats and land closures from time to time, so, in general, I'm not a fan of the BLM's protection policies--that's not to say I don't agree sites of historic import should be protected.

email sent they are gonna close climbs at massacere rocks & christmas pass, nev, too! The burley area closure IMO is Partly the indians, partly the area, partly job justification, castle was off limits once, even though the blm land area closings are small vast areas of federal land are under blm control. Voice in castle is cool if you havent been there. dan zika

When you write it's always a good idea to ask them to keep you informed as the process goes forward. Make them include you in their mailing list and let them know you are watching carefully. Write your congressional delegation, too, and include some economic angle, something they can't ignore. Andrew Carson

Doesn't seem to be any buzz from the BLM newsroom...

Too funny, on this photo on their website:

Rock Climbing Photo: View of Castle Rocks
View of Castle Rocks

The caption reads:

view of pinnacles on Idaho State Parks land

Oh, if only that were true...

Maybe no official news is good news...
