Although fairly small in size this portion of the crag is packed with quality routes and the sunnier aspect means the rock is much cleaner as well. Standout routes here include Slap and Tickle (5.10d), Blackout (5.11c), Black and Tan (5.11c) and Firewalker (5.12a).

Summer days can get really hot on this side of the face so earlier is better or early/late season works as well. If planning on doing multiple routes here an extra rope to fix as a rap line saves time on repeated descents as well as erosion of the slope.

Getting There

Circle around from the north face or take the trail at the southwest corner of the crag.

Jam or lieback an easy hand/fist crack (5.8) to a stance then move left and climb the delicate slabby arete to the top. Excellent rock, excellent exposure and positioning with moves on the upper slab that are reminiscent of Suicide Rock. ...[more]   Browse More Classics in California
