BETA PHOTO: Bighorn Buttress. The gully to the left can be use...

Bighorn Buttress is the dome shaped crag high on the ridge of TLTTF. Some excellent routes with great views of New Jack City. The longer approach is greatly rewarded.
East facing and shady in the afternoon.

Getting There

From the kiosk, follow the trail past Bedrock Wall as it hugs the formation on your left. Follow the trail as it opens up to the upper valley. Look for the cairn that starts the zig-zagging trail that goes up to Bighorn Buttress.

There is a dead rattlesnake in the most interesting place here.. Looks like he got halfway a crack just right of Catalina. Perhaps he got stuck and gave up... so sad. Hard as a rock in may 2016

That poor little guy is the namesake for this route:

Jordan... That is hilarious! ...and makes so much sense.

BTW, I was up there yesterday trying more of the *new* stuff... I noticed that there is a 7th bolted line to the right of The Snake ( that is to say, there are 2 lines right of the Snake, one would be Toxic Box, the other is a few from it) Any ideas?

The one to the right is new. Sam just put it up a month ago or so. I don't have or can't remember the info.

I climbed the route farthest right this past spring. There was still dust from the drilling operation. It felt 5.11d to me and is quite fun for the area.

Anyone have any info on the two long routes in the gully on the left of the wall mentioned in the picture? I couldn't find any info on here about them, and the guidebook didn't seem to have any either.

Sam Owings put those up in the last few months. They are in the mid 10s and well protected.

Thanks drjman! My buddy and I climbed the left one yesterday and thought it felt like a solid 10. Well protected and was a lot of fun!
