My poor, 1994 Jeep Wrangler finally blew up on the drive into Eldo last week. How should I replace it? How do you all get to the crags? Help me out. What is the best car for the Dirt-bag of 2010?

Subaru Loyale station wagon.

I see you're in Boulder.

Go to Super Rupair. Buy one of the used Subies they have on their lot.

The Previa looks pretty sick and it's a good excuse for a climbing trip back from Washington. Too much climbing and skiing can be done between Seattle and Denver! I would buy a mini van because the prices can't be beat and modify into a dirtbag mobile but thats just me.

Just saw a guy in the creek with a Toyota Camry.

Back seats were entirely ripped out.
Back right seat was a bed that extended into the trunk.
Back left seat is storage.
Opening the trunk, on the right side he had a wooden stand built up for a Coleman stove that sat above his feet area. Left side was frequent gear like a chair. He attached all his cooking utensils, spices, lighter...etc to the underside of his trunk lid.

Trunk pops open, bam, kitchen. Closes and he hops straight to bed. Can't really beat a Camry for gas mileage/reliability... only problems are lack of clearance and performance in snow.

My roommate has a previa for sale for $2200. Decked out with a bed, etc. In SW Colorado. Great deal.

the true dirtbag vehicle that Colin was describing spotted at indian creek:

the camry has all the features as described above and has been reliable for all of its 255,000 miles so far. currently spends its winters at Alta, UT... does just fine in the snow. highly recommended dirtbag vehicle!

The price for those wheels alone is probably more than I would spend on an entire vehicle if I were "dirtbagging." Nice rig though.

Oops, wrong thread-I was confusing climber's and dirtbags.

Climber's best vehicle?

Doing the same in Durango. I bet we’ve seen each other. In the process of upgrading the engine.

Dirtbags are poor and drive alot. Used Prius, baby.

What's better? Revisiting an old thread or creating a new one about the same topic?

You must have very small hands sir, most dirtbags can tell you if you only have one nice thing in the rig it has to be a full size mattress. I'd say why but the age of PC wont allow me to.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
