Description

Jump start to the obvious crimp rail above head height in the middle of the wall underneath The King, then make hard moves up through a series of crimps until linking with the left or right exit of The King. Padstacking or other means of skipping the jump start are a big no-no.

Location

Middle of the overhanging wall on The King Boulder, regular downclimb on the backside.

Protection

Pads, and a great spotter.

The jump start on this problem falls in the category of circus tricks and is unnecessary. If you are going to do such arbitrary things as jump starts, then stacking pads or bringing ladders to the crag wouldn't be much of a difference.

The more classic and natural way to start this awesome variation is the same as for the king (from the ground) and continue left to the long crimp rail from top of the jug flake. It adds a few super fun, but easier moves to the problem without changing the crux lunge to the lip. It might just barely be V8- IF you add a few moves and start from the ground, but I'm not convinced...
