Baxter SP & Coastal Maine...

Headed up for a dayblast of the Cathedral Trail to Knife Edge next week.
If I'm coming in late at night, is there any free camping to pull off and hit between millinocket and the Togue Pond Gate? Or should I just camp in the park?

Also looking for any recommendations on Coastal State Parks to check out/camp at and also beaches to hit along the Maine coast...heading to Acadia for 3 days after katahdin but will be on the trip for 9 days.

Restaurants (Vegetarian & Seafood for me!) and bar recommendations welcome too!
