Barlow Creek/Bolam Pass Rock Climbing
Barlow Creek/Bolam Pass is an alpine environment with a couple of good crag runs, but the gnarly display of fallen boulders which litter into the forest below is the highlight of the area. The bouldering is unique and diverse, with exceptional climbs ranging in difficulty. The stone is solid and most of the landings are safe. This is a very exposed area during thunder season, and the wildlife deserves much respect. There is a great amount of potential for high rated climbs. Please contribute and play!
From Rico, Colorado, travel six miles north, take a right hand turn at the Barlow Creek, and follow Barlow Creek to the headwaters (RD. 578), which is approximately 10 miles of a 4WD rocky road.
From US Hwy 550, take a left at Purgatory Resort, and follow the Hermosa Park Road.
