Description

Also known as the "Balls Wall," The Ball Creek Wall is is situated among old-growth timber and moss covered granite boulders. The murmur of Ball Creek adds a pleasant ambiance to the 40 meter wall. The climbing style varies from slabby to overhanging, and provides some of the most unique granitic features found in this area. This crag provides a respite from the sweltering valley temperatures in the summer, but is often accessible as early as May. The climbs vary in difficulty from 5.6 to 5.12 with plenty of room for development. Although a bit further from civilization, the quality and setting are well worth a visit. Most routes are set up for leading, but some routes can be top roped via a walk-around on the left side of the crag. No Cell Service.

Getting There

From Bonners Ferry, ID turn west onto Riverside Street past the Kootenai River Brewing Company. Continue 5 miles until Riverside turns into Westside Rd. heading north. Follow Westside road North for 7 miles(start your odometer at the Wildife Refuge Office). Turn left onto Ball Creek Rd where the pavement turns to gravel (FS Rd #432). Continue for 5 miles on Ball Creek RD past a painted 5 mile marker (on a rock) and then continue 150 yards to small cairn and trail on right. Park at the turn out on the left. Follow the trail for 5 min to the Ball Creek Wall.
