Alejandro Gomez climbing his route, Golum, 5.11b

Description

This spectacular area has recently been developed further, adding to the 6 routes that were already there, ranging from 5.10 to 5.13, in the arch of Arcotete and also in the surrounding limestone. However, be warned - The cooperative charge $50 pesos per person on top of the 10 pesos entry fee for the privilege of climbing their walls - you have to say you are going to climb at the beginning, even if you bring your own equipment.

Getting There

Take the road leading out of San Cristobal behind Iglesia de Guadalupe, towards Tenejapa. There is a large sign after a gas station on the right to Parque Ecosturistico Arcotete.

Climbing Season

For the Mexico area.

Weather station 3.4 miles from here

Feliz Escalada!

My name is Martin Siller and over 6 months ago I began bolting the incredible lines of the Arcotete rock arch with my wife, Sofia Tapia. We have worked hard with our small business, Vertigo Rock Climbing, to develop world class sport climbing routes from 5.8 to 5.13 and there is potential for much more! Together, we are continuing development and are working on a guide, but if you would like more information about our climber's camp, climbing courses, equipment rental, routes, grades, access, or general climbing wisdom, please do not hesitate to contact me at:

Sofia and I have developed all of the routes in the arch, we set them ourselves, we climb them frequently, and we can provide the most accurate information available.

Cheers,
Martin and Sofia
