BETA PHOTO: Annticipation top-out.

Description

Start sitting with both hands on a horizontal jug in the blackened slightly overhung wall with good feet down and right. A back-step can setup a long reach for a left hand layaway and some more feet setup after that allow for a swing right to a sloper (crux) that sets up the exit moves using great crimps.

Location

From the top of the Round Pond hill (Atlas area) its downhill S/SE ~200' in a grotto behind some reeds. It may be easiest to find by approaching No Pads Necessary, and when standing at the start to that problem go down and right around the corner above the water to drop down into the grotto from its left side.

Protection

Pad optional - good landing.

Just a few notes about this problem (special to me for a number of reasons):
  • The name spelling is correct, the Ann in Annticipation is an old friend I was meeting later that day for the 1st time in >20 years.
  • I've climbed at Pawtuckaway since '88 (though with a 20 year gap!) and I had never noticed this chunk of rock before despite being near it countless times and it not being hidden really at all. So this may be a new problem, but who knows, Dave Jacobsen probably did it.

Sweet line for sure, the footwork technique made the route more unique and special for me. Awesome location! Thanks for the add.
