|Raptor Closures - 2016 Tunnel 2 Closure Lifted / Upper Canyon Road closures MORE INFO >>>|
Alan's Roof climbs a very steep overhang on largely excellent rock. It is thuggish but good and worth the scramble up if you are climbing at Other Critters or the Dog House. If you look for it, the roof is quite visible even from the road and is readily seen from Other Critters.
Alan's Roof is located on the far left side of Other Critters and is approached by an exposed scramble up low 5th or 4th class climbing. It is a good place to be careful. The further left you go, the easier the approach.
Half a dozen quickdraws and something for the double bolt anchor at the top.

As of January 2016, Alan's Roof is not pictured in any of the overview photos for Other Critters. There's a chest-high boulder at the leftward edge of the main belay ledge for this area and, beyond that, a juniper tree up and to your left on the wall. This is the juniper tree at the top of the first pitch of Clyde (which starts on the lower ledge beneath you). Alan's Roof must be a leftward scramble from the natural end of the main belay ledge and the juniper tree. I didn't try to find Alan's Roof. Just putting this info here for folks who are trying to figure out what's what.

Alan's Roof is also visible from the top of the Safari Wall, just up and to the right.
